I have been very impressed by the usefulness of CVS in source code control, and hope to show its worth to others. These pages provide instructions, tips, and Perl scripts to support CVS installation, configuration, administration, and use. They are freely available, both as a service to the community and to show that I know my software. You can assign a developer to go through these pages and do the work, or you can hire me to install and configure CVS, and train people in administration and use. As a version control system, CVS will maintain a complete history of your software and allow you to recreate any potential release, find what changes were made in the files and when, and avoid losing code written over. CVS works well for text-based files, including C, Java, Peoplesoft SQR, Perl, SQL, and many other languages and formats. These are some features of CVS that distinguish it from some other similar systems:
